This sucks. Besides 70% of these being in old skate flicks, it all plays like a bad 90’s-esque soundtrack.
Nice try though, some good stuff in there despite everyone knowing absolutely all of it, and being reminded that it’s decent by popular media regularly.
10.09.09 at 11:16 am
goddamnit i couldnt go any farther than the 1st song on the list. it’s not called “Watch Out Now” ….
10.09.09 at 11:30 am
Nothing wrong w/ BJM, but the rest sucks
10.09.09 at 11:35 am
pilooski not palooski
10.09.09 at 11:35 am
@Scabby Rats. “Popular media” is regularly reminding us that this is decent? You are confusing (confused?). Some good songs here.
10.09.09 at 11:36 am
It’s called Watch Out Now. Check out the tracks on A Musical Massacre.
10.09.09 at 11:39 am
This is sad.
10.09.09 at 11:40 am
Aileen not-Awesome
10.09.09 at 12:36 pm
I usually hate Vice-style kneejerk commenter negativity, but goddamn, I love seeing Aileen Awesome get slaughered
10.09.09 at 12:37 pm
that Beat Nuts track is crackin’.
She does suck though… my sack.
10.09.09 at 12:42 pm
I Wish?
oooofff. Who the fuck molested you Aileen?
10.09.09 at 1:10 pm
This list is really unimaginative. “killing moon”? Really? Could you find a more obvious jam? Perhaps “Hey Jude”?
10.09.09 at 1:16 pm
StonersDelite Says:
It’s called Watch Out Now. Check out the tracks on A Musical Massacre.
“The Beatnuts did not follow up their 1994 album until releasing Stone Crazy in 1997. Although it contained “Off the Books”, a single that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and featured the first on-record performance by Big Pun”
you got the album wrong also. double fail.

Why don’t support a cause and get yourself the album. Triple Fail.
You should also cite your sources, they may not be reputable. Quadruple Fail.
10.09.09 at 1:49 pm
Cheers for putting “Los Angeles” back into my head for a few minutes. I likely wouldn’t have heard it for a long while otherwise.
Oh yeah, and it’s Echo and the BunnymEn.
10.09.09 at 1:54 pm
Please fix the typos Arv.
^^^
Good looks.
10.09.09 at 1:56 pm
All of those songs suck, well the ones I know anyway, the rest I’ll assume they suck, based on the suckage of the ones I know.
10.09.09 at 2:03 pm
But do you want to to know what’s really wack?
Your taste
10.09.09 at 2:30 pm
I think this list just points out the generation gap on this site. While Aileen probably thinks that “Fade into You” is some early nineties nugget that is fresh and new, she fails to realize that anyone over the age of 26 has heard it 1000000x too many. Same can be said for most of this list, except for “Killing Moon”, which is basically like putting “Stairway to Heaven” on here
10.09.09 at 2:33 pm
BJM! sex music. everything else has puke on it.
10.09.09 at 2:36 pm
I’m with Street Boning.
10.09.09 at 4:08 pm
wow, i’m glad that i can find out about the latest music on this site.
10.09.09 at 4:38 pm
Okay Drippy, here we go…
Beatnuts – Watch Out Now
“”Watch Out Now” is the most commercially successful Beatnuts single; it reached #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 making it the second Beatnuts single to appear on the pop chart. It additionally appeared on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart and Canadian Singles Chart.”
“Help Yourself” was used in a commercial by the former Czech mobile phone operator Eurotel (now Telefónica O2 Czech Republic); in Johan Kramer’s 2003 film The Other Final; in the 2003 Girl Skateboards video Yeah Right!; and in the 2005 film 12 and Holding. (NOTE; YEAH RIGHT AND GIRL SKATEBOARDS, SPIKE JONZE DICK IS THE STEEZE RIGHT NOW)
Frank Blacks – Los Angeles was also in Spike Jonze directed skate flick, “Yeah Right!”
Frank Valli – Begg’n was a top 20 single in the United States
Queens Of the Stone Age – Make It Wit Chu “#60 on Rolling Stones best songs of 2007″ and playable in Guitar Hero 5.
Mazzy Star – Fade Into You, “..the song made the Top 5 of Billboard’s Modern Rock chart in 1994, peaking at number three, and is Mazzy Star’s only single to make the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #44. The song reached #36 on the Billboard 200.” In the movies; Angus, Starship Troopers, Lord Of War and Swept Away. Also in the TV shows; Roswell, Without A Trace, Cold Case, Alias, Gilmore Girls, CSI Miami, Bones and Desperate Housewives.
Leftover Crack suck dick.
Echo & the Bunnyment – Killing Moon, It is one of the band’s highest-charting hits, reaching number 9 in the UK Singles Chart. It’s been in the movies, Gia, Donnie Darko, The Girl Next Door, another big skateboard flick ‘first love’ and an absinthe snowboard flick as well as a boatload of other films and tv shows.
Skee-Lo – I wish, “The track peaked at #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and at #15 on the UK Singles Chart” Used in American Pie, The Naked Mile and someone’s part in a Mack Dawg snowboard flick, which is the biggest production company in snowboarding.
So yeah, if your watching tv or listening to the radio — chances are you’ll catch most of these songs in the next couple months.
10.09.09 at 5:15 pm
hey 3 outta ten aint bad…good try
10.09.09 at 5:32 pm
@Scabby Rats: Yowza, I just thought the term regularly was a bit over the top. Mazzy Star I’ll give ya. And, okay, I’ll give ya Echo & The Bunnymen too. You’re intense dude, I’m actually sorry.
Just kidding. Way to spend all day researching on my behalf.
10.09.09 at 7:28 pm
@Scabby Rats #10 BJM-”Anenome” is currently on Pitchfork thanks to the screening of “Dig”, which won awards at major film festivals including Sundance.
10.09.09 at 7:36 pm
Maybe I’m the only one who can read but the title is “10 Great Songs”, not “10 Great New Songs”.
Aileen, I don’t know if you’re awesome, but you have an eclectic taste compared to most fagbag hipsters dancing their tight jeans wearing ass off to the lastest musical trends. And, when I mean trends I mean shit that won’t be remembered because it got AIDS and died in the process. I guess the kids on the site were expecting some hip gay anal receiving band like [fill in the blank]. Either way props for taking the heat and putting your shit out there like that.
@Scabby – agreed Leftover crack does suck.
10.09.09 at 7:56 pm
hahahaha wow hahahahaha how did i get this posted hahaha well w.e

10.09.09 at 8:29 pm
So yeah, if your watching tv or listening to the radio — chances are you’ll catch most of these songs in the next couple months.
What a load of shite people talk. I haven’t heard of half of those songs, snd I sure as fuck won’t be hearing any of them on the radio any time soon.
10.09.09 at 9:03 pm
i think this stuff is cool they are classics so fuck off to all you disbelievers or feel the wrath of my science
10.09.09 at 9:05 pm
I think this chick might not be the hottest and some of these songs are extremely poor choices, but I like this feature overall. the form is sound but some of the content is a little trapper keeper girly. just sayin
10.09.09 at 9:30 pm
I don’t know Cunty, maybe I just consume too much popular media. It would be nice if I didn’t hear these so often. I’m not opposed to any of them, I’m not even saying the songs have to be groundbreaking or new, but you could pick this shit up on the average university students blog and I don’t think that’s so much what I’ve come to expect from SBTVC. Arv’s 10 great songs are awesome and not entirely obscure stuff.
Drippy, I just wiki’d and lifted half that shit to prove a point; that point being how uninformed you are. It’s good though, I think people like you who talk with real confidence and zero intelligence make it far in this world. And I mean that. Keep spewing shit about things you don’t know, and keep doing it with confidence because that makes all those other ignorant bastards who don’t know shit, get behind you. And that’s good, man, you’ll be rich!
10.09.09 at 9:32 pm
mike jack in ya ass
10.09.09 at 9:55 pm
theres some real crab asses in here
10.09.09 at 10:35 pm
Crack Rock Steady is by Choking Victim, not Leftover Crack.
Crack City Rockers is Leftover Crack.
Ultimately the same band, though.
But still, I need to nitpick.
10.10.09 at 2:36 am
Alright scabby, now that I’m home, let me tell you the truth. I’m just ball-busting cause things are slow at work, and I can’t just beef up my own shit all day, or do side projects for free. Your analysis of me is flawed, but your passion is admirable, sincerely. I swear to god, I couldn’t give a fuck who’s behind me. I don’t even know what they’d be behind, or what that would mean. I would, however, like to point out that not remembering a song that was in a skate video 9 million years ago (what, 2002?) has nothing to do with intelligence. You’re probably right , these songs probably get played a lot. I’ll bet you’re a good dude, sorry if I bummed you out. No homo.
p.s. – I still am kind of hoping I’ll get rich. So far, this upper-middle class shit ain’t covering it.
10.10.09 at 2:56 am
Sorry, man.
10.11.09 at 4:25 am
The Queens version of Make it wit chu sucks, listen to desert sessions.
10.11.09 at 8:52 pm
Leftover Crack have got to be the ugliest punk band since NOFX. Look like somebody made em out of dough and dog sheddings.
10.11.09 at 11:22 pm
this is still the best 10 songs i’ve seen in awhile.
there are some misses, but at least it’s not all animal collective electro mash up bullshit.
