ABig thanks to you Jim fer yer cander and spew! I know where you and you are coming from concerning H.R., though I actually love the picture above. May look gone, but content as all ganja!

Once saw Bad Brains at City Gardens in Trenton around ‘85-’86 when the A.C. was not working but was desperately needed. In an uncommon show of reason for such a free-to-fly band, they played for 15 minutes took a 15 minute break and would come back for another 15, break 15, etc… The funniest thing was that when it came time to play F.V.K.(Fearless Vampire Killers) was that instead of H.R. singing the lyrics he reached down and grabbed the trumpet that the opening band had left on the stage and blasted the lyrics (and the management!) with that. Thing that was so hilarious to me was that I kind of felt he was gonna do it before he did and I was in stitches through the whole tune!

Jim Goad is correct. I saw Pure Hell in 1979 and they were way better than the Bad Brains.

I saw them in SF a few years back. HR stood unmoving for the entire first 5 songs. LIke a frozen zombie statue. Then on the 6th he sprang to life and did a back flip, landed and started singing Pay to Cum right on cue. This was 7 or 8 yrs ago so he wasn’t a spring chicken anymore.

HR is a paranoid schizophrenic that happens to make mostly good music. He’s ill but most pickle-dicked bastards think that he’s being quirky and artistic. I say get the man some help, they haven’t made a good record in 20 years, and Haile Selassie I was a corrupt dictator. Also, I saw Daryl Jennifer open up for Warzone some years ago and he was boring as shit. Thank Jah.
