Second half of my interview with the visual mind of the 80s anarcho punk band Crass. Though I consider myself an expert on the band, I managed to get every question very wrong.

The fight between The Exploited and Crass wasn’t just “Chaos Anarchists” vs “Socialist Anarchists.” It was “drunk punks who were stupid and working class” vs “middle class punks who were well-read and knew what they were talking about.” Like most conflicts it was based on class.
There was a concert in London where they played together and tried to quash the beef but it ended in a riot.

You could also say The Exploited / Crass beef is Scotland vs England which I guess is still a class thing.

Feeding… the worst album EVER made?!? Are you insane?? There’s more creativity, intelligence and rage in that album than ALL the early “punk” albums combined! Crass WAS the definitive Punk band. The rest were all Pub Rock wanna-be’s!!
