Because I believe in political hardball, I’m voting Jimmy McMillan for Mayor of NYC over Michael Bloomberg and Bill Thompson. Before you think that I am suggesting a Ralph Nader style third party derailment, hear me out: The race has boiled down to Thompson trying to turn the election into a referendum on term limits. Fat chance, and I’m guessing Bloomberg hasn’t lost a wink of sleep since he tweaked the law and began bankrolling his way towards a third term. Aside from daring to brand Bloomberg a Republican, Thompson’s candidacy has been flimsy at best. His political goose is cooked.
Though much is made of the importance of voting, the electorate are, by definition, idiots. In that spirit, I’ve decided to make my endorsement purely on whimsy. Specifically on who has the catchiest campaign song. You don’t need political pollsters for this shit and the results weren’t even close: Jimmy McMillan, of “The Rent is Too Damn High Party,” has a message that resonates to an unshakeable tune. Like a derivative Top 40 hit, it’s stuck in my head, and my vote is cast. Don’t be apathetic today! Rock the boat and VOTE McMillan‘s theme song for Mayor! You can get back to Katy Perry later in the week.

Trace is a close personal friend. This link is funny. that said, why are people anti Bloomberg? What has he done wrong? Does he hate jews or blacks? Is he a pedophile? Crime is low and the city is great – is he plunger-raping? Quality of Life? Anti-arab?
Too lazy to google so tell me FAST before I go vote for him at like 4pm.

to quote gawker:
“Let’s talk about the cops, for a second: they are still operating under Giuliani levels of complete disregard for the law. They are getting drunk and running people over and shooting unarmed black people and sodomizing people in subway stations. The Civilian Complaint Review Board has become a joke, unless your case gets a lot of publicity. There’s obviously no accountability, whatsoever, and no attempt to recruit and train more cops from the communities they actually police. The NYPD remains, primarily, the home of roided-out white people from outside the city with a great deal of contempt for civil liberties. The Mayor always sounds properly upset when some of them rape someone, but he’s never done a damn thing to rein them in or change the culture.
What he has done is Keep Us Safe by never once giving a shit about Civil Liberties. The cops stop and frisk thousands more people every year, your 4th Amendment rights do not apply in the Subway system, and expensive and completely ineffective new rings of cameras are going up across Manhattan.
Bloomberg deserves to be run out of town on an inadequately funded public rail line for the 2004 GOP convention alone. Remember that ridiculous farce? No, of course not, no one does, besides the thousands of people improperly spied on, arrested, harassed, and detained by the NYPD. All of this was completely illegal. No heads rolled.
One more special bonus factoid: New York leads the world in marijuana arrests! Specifically, marijuana arrests of black people!
And he is personally a jerk. He is a thin-skinned, unpleasant, sanctimonious asshole. His company is being sued for a culture of sexual discrimination that plaintiffs say Bloomberg himself contributed to. He is a tremendous dick to reporters whenever he gets cranky. He is fucking race-baiting with Rudy Giuliani again, because why not?
He has been a shitty mayor and he does not deserve the support of anyone who claims to be a liberal. Though what all of his most destructive missteps as mayor have in common is that they do not in any way upset or inconvenience the well-off self-professed liberals who support him. Besides maybe a couple Critical Mass riders arrested in illegal sweeps. (Though he sure does like bike lanes, so it’s a wash, right?)”
and mcmillan thinks the rent is too damn high because of the jews.

Anybody who was once tied to a tree, doused with gasoline and lived to sing a song about why he should be the mayor, has got my vote.

Thanks for reminding me Trace. Gotta go vote against a special-purpose local-option sales tax for building a new jail. It’s been on the bill for years now and will not pass as long as all the old people don’t suddenly die. Fucked up politics down here.

more reasons to hate bloomberg. one, anyone with that kind of money is a cunt, period. those who use that money to try to buy positions of power are double cunts, period period. two, he keeps going on and on about how he’s the greenest fucker that ever lived, yet my mailbox is filled daily with his stupid photo-op with a latino campaign flyer trash–how many trees had to be chopped down for all that bullshit? three, that fucking youtube advert with matt damon. bloodclot. case closed.

“If my mother can’t vote for who she wants to vote for, she’s going to be angry, she’s going to feel cheated.” That was the argument of the city councilman who changed his opinion literally overnight as to whether Bloomy should be able to run a third term. Here’s the problem with Bloomberg and the problem with the rest of those fucking idiot narrow-minded, short-sided baby boomers: THAT’S NOT HOW DEMOCRACY WORKS YOU GODDAMN FUCKTARDS! Term limits are supposed to be there even if the guy is popular, that’s how you keep one person from consolidating power. Now that Bloomberg has no reason to think he can’t pull a Halie Selassie and stick around for 48 years, New York is turning into a regular fucking Ethiopia. Well done, sir.

The real question is will they let Trace in the polling booth after “Pulled the lever, lost my pants, dazzlers” episode of ‘08.

@Blognigger It’s true that crime rates are down in NYC, but they are down in most major cities across the country, so I don’t think you can attribute that to Bloomberg. One good reason not to vote for him? How about when he overturned the will of the people (expressed clearly enough in not one, but TWO referendums) by extending term limits? He’s a fucking plutocrat.

BRING DOWN THE RENT! Who wouldn’t vote for this man’s? He has one goal, lower your rent. Step out my friends.
