SWEARS IN ADVERTISING
The rap musical in Part II could be called coinkidink were it not Part II of our VIII part series. It seems almost everything the show joked about became ripped off by the universe. During the first season Bob and David thought it would be funny and crazy and impossible to incorporate swearing into advertising. “It’s so big. It’s fucking great,” exclaimed a happy Brian Posehn eating a Ding Dong King Kong Sing Song Burger. We all did a spit take at this wacky notion but less than a decade later swearing in ads has become commonplace. Derrick Beckles told me last night he thinks he heard the word “fuck” in a commercial and he also says he heard someone in a buy.com ad claim they had “tons of shit.” If you’re not impressed with that research check this out from the back of mid-August issue of “Time Out.” They are basically two asterisks and some other letters away from “Fuck Burgers.”
