WHERE THE MISFITS GOT THEIR LOGO

Stan Lee made a scary comic book with spooky pics of monsters and dumb captions. Then it died. But some meatheads from New Jersey managed to get a hold of one and steal a skull monster for their band.
After cropping, Gausian blur and some mad leveling:

The Misfits typeface is from Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine. Published by Forrest J. Ackerman, America’s greatest hero.

isn’t the misfits logo the crimson ghost from some old ass horror movie, which stan lee is merely parodying in his shit-tastic rag?

I’m a Samhain man myself, but I haven’t been able to listen to any of their shit since What’s his name got knocked out backstage by the guy from Pantera or whatever. That was a career killer, also I heard he’s teeny tiny.

If you’re trying to say you don’t like the Misfits just say so. But really, Where Eagles Dare, Some Kinda Hate, Last Caress, Hybrid Moments and such are pretty good. It’s like being an adult and denying diapers, the shit was part of growing up. Yes Danzig is a douche and probably was back then too, but the songs are catchy, and Last Caress is up there with Wonderwall as one of the best drunk songs ever. And yes the songs are pretty shallow, but just let it go. Rip on Brian Baker instead, it would at least create better hate mail. It’s cool to know where they took the graphic from though. The cool Misfits is long gone; besides, all their fans that dug deep enough realized the band wasn’ t deep anyway. And I know this is old, but every percent counts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfD7agP1yxw Mother - tell your kids to please not step my way, thanks

Jorge, you forgot Angelfuck and She. Blink 182 always felt, to me, a little like the modern day Misfits, to a certain extent. They were the band that somebody would get into to get their feet wet, and then move on and pretend not to like them because they were too mainstream, but wouldn’t have heard of without them being so mainstream. Misfits have good songs with mainstream appeal…catchy hooks and skulls will always be a winning formula.

I think you guys should recognize metallica is just better than the misfits! come on, it’s obvious.
Gavin is genius and I would love to marry him. Let’s fly to canada together Gavin and you’ll make love to me for hours on the couch!

Metallica were massive misfits fans, fuckface.
And crimson ghost was an old horror film.

I read somewhere that the Misfits were gay… not in literal terms, in that “they’re so girl-wearing-skirt-as-a-top” way.

Is this suppose to be like The Who article? Willfully ignorant and shit? Hilarious, still.

[...] a tasty MTL bagel I ran across some interesting info on the origin of the MISFITS skull over at Street Boners. Apparently Stan Lee published this comic book for about one year in the 70’s with Marvel [...]

Okay look. The Misfits Skull comes from a 1930’s gangster/crime serial (one short 10 minute episode every week) called The Crimson Ghost. Stan Lee used the picture in his magazine from the show. Glenn Danzig used a xerox machine to get the effect.
However, not to totally discredit you, Glenn Danzig has stolen many of his designs from comic books. the cover of Die Die My Darling is from a 1950’s horror comic called Chamber of Chills, and the actual Danzig skull is from the 1980’s toy-crossover comic Crystar, the Crystal Warrior.
There’s this cool website you should check out, it’s called WIKIPEDIA and it knows a whole lot more about stuff than anyone on streetcarnage.

You are all super-fags. The Misfits were good, anyone sweating whether or not they were deep or meaningful should have their face caved-in. Catchy tunes, that’s it. As my friend’s father once said, regarding comments my friend and I were making whilst watching one of his bestiality videos, “If you going to intellectualize this shit, I’m going to turn it off”.
Additionally, is the author of this post 9? Gaussian blur and levels? You have achieved extra-fag status, or you threw the anachronistic Photoshop reference in purely to annoy me.
